August 11, 2025

From August 2–9, riders pedaled the coast and countryside of northern Michigan on Shoreline 2025, LMB’s premier weeklong, pavement-based camping bicycle tour. This year’s event was packed with stunning Great Lakes views, smooth miles (and a few challenging climbs), plenty of ice cream opportunities, and the kind of laughter and camaraderie that makes this tour special year after year. With picture-perfect weather on our side (well…except for some mean headwinds that tested us a little), this year’s crew took on every mile with grit and determination.

Riders from across Michigan (and beyond!) rolled together from Alpena to Traverse City, soaking in some of the most stunning scenery Michigan has to offer — Lake Huron’s shoreline sights, stretches of forest and farmland, and the small-town hospitality that makes this tour so unique. Each stop along the way had its own flavor: lighthouse sightings on the way Rogers City, an uplifting dip in Ocqueoc Falls before Cheboygan, the ferry breeze to Mackinac Island, the energetic downtown scene of Petoskey, drawbridge crossings in Charlevoix, and of course, the final cruise into Traverse City.
We also had plenty of other highlights sprinkled in. These weren’t just breaks, they were the small but mighty moments that stitched the tour together. Each day delivered something memorable, a few including:
-
An early-week morale boost came at the generous Potato Farm aid station, where a full service baked potato bar fueled spirits (and legs) for miles to come.
-
Riders took full advantage of a layover day in Mackinaw City, hopping the ferry for fudge, car-free laps around Mackinac Island, shopping, and then brews and live music from the talented band Remnose at Bière de Mac brewery.
-
Stops at Lavender Hill Farm added a sensory break with blooming fields and refreshing scents.
-
A pause at Traverse City Horse Shows offered food, shade, and a recharge before the last push into Traverse City headwinds.

And then the finish line! A week of fun, hard work, rolling hills, vineyards, breweries, Lavender fields and endless lake views wrapped up with cheers and high fives, new friendships, and the satisfaction of a ride well done.

While the miles were memorable, what really made this tour special was the people. Our riders came ready to roll with great energy. We loved meeting you, cheering you on, and sharing this experience together. Whether it was swapping tales at camp, resting and laughing at the aid station tables, savoring local eats, or grabbing a well-earned ice cream cone, they made the week feel more like a family reunion than a tour. We owe a huge thank you to every bicyclist who joined us this year. Your registration supports LMB’s advocacy work to make Michigan biking better statewide. Whether you’re a longtime Shoreline rider or joined us for the first time, we hope you’ll roll with us again in the future.

Of course, none of it would have been possible without the incredible people who powered the tour behind the scenes. Our tireless volunteers gave their all every single day, not only bringing positivity, warm encouragement, and so much heart to the tour, they kept everyone fueled, hydrated, and safe. Huge thanks to the incredible local businesses, restaurants, and shops along the way who opened their doors, helped with logistics, or generously hosted our aid stations. They made the journey feel like a true community effort, and we couldn’t have done it without them. The amazing team of truck drivers offered a level of support and care that goes unmatched. And our bike mechanics at Broom Wagon Works didn’t just air up tires and address mechanicals, they worked magic to keep everyone rolling, always going the extra mile. Their dedication and generosity went far beyond the tools in their kit. This event simply doesn’t happen without these incredible people and we truly cannot thank them all enough.
So to our riders: thank you for bringing your spirit and grit to Shoreline 2025. To our volunteers and partners: thank you for making it all possible and making it feel effortless, even when we know it was anything but.
Until next time, we’ll be riding high on these memories and we hope you’ll join us in the future because the road doesn’t end here. We’re already looking ahead to new adventures, like our first-ever Leaf Pile Pedal bikepacking tour happening October 9-12. (Think fall colors, cider stops, and campfire hangs under the stars.)
Cheers to the miles shared, the friendships made, and the community that keeps LMB events like this rolling strong.
