LMB is a mission-driven, member-powered nonprofit focused on educating about cycling and advocating for cyclists. Our mission is held up by three core pillars: UNIFY, ADVOCATE, EDUCATE.

LMB seeks to unify the various communities and groups of cyclists across the state into a singular voice to advocate for bicycle-friendly policies at the State Capitol with the legislature and Michigan executive departments; seeks to partner with individuals and organizations across Michigan with a shared mission; develops and promotes educational materials for bicyclists, motorists, engineers, and law enforcement; and provides at no cost to bicyclists a digital ride calendar featuring statewide bicycling events. Founded in 1981, LMB is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

Our Mission:

LMB works to UNIFY Michigan’s cycling community into a singular voice to ADVOCATE for enhanced safety and access for all cyclists, and EDUCATE road and trail users about the rights and responsibilities of cyclists — to make Michigan bicycling better.

LMB’s strategy, refocused on the core principles of our creation, realigns our work around strong, effective advocacy. That direction is grounded in three core pillars:

UNIFY: Michigan’s cycling community into a singular voice.
ADVOCATE:
For enhanced safety and access for all cyclists.
EDUCATE:
Road and trail users on the rights and responsibilities of cyclists.

Our Vision:

We envision a state where bicycling makes life better for everyone; serves as an everyday option for people to commute, to recreate and exercise on roads and trails; and connects us to the natural world and each other.

Our communities benefit through healthier people and stronger economies. Our transportation system becomes more equitable and environmentally sustainable. Our streets and trails are safe and accessible to anyone who wishes to use them.

LMB is committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
