Adam Goodman – Ann Arbor

Adam Goodman is a software engineer and entrepreneur in Ann Arbor. After working as a founding Principal Engineer at Duo Security for 13 years, he’s taking a break from his cybersecurity career to focus on advocacy for sustainable transportation and housing – and bike rides, of course!
After becoming a year-round bike commuter in the early 2010s, Adam soon found it impossible to ignore questions like, why don’t more people ride bikes to get around? Why is our infrastructure, even in one of the most bike-friendly cities in Michigan, so lacking? As he got involved with local advocacy efforts, he joined up with Common Cycle in Ann Arbor, and has served as a board member for about a decade. He’s also been an active participant in the Bicycle Alliance of Washtenaw since its inception.
Adam’s particular interests lie in the intersection between sustainable transportation (walking, biking, and public transit) and land-use policy (e.g. how can we enable more people to live within “biking distance” of their daily destinations?). In furtherance of these interests, Adam more recently joined the boards of Transportation Riders United (TRU) in Detroit, The Neighborhood Institute in Ann Arbor, and Abundant Housing Michigan. Last year, he also co-led a campaign called “Trains Not Lanes” opposing an expansion of US-23 east of Ann Arbor – in response to this effort, MDOT ultimately withdrew their expansion proposal and instead committed to improving biking and walking connections across the freeway.
Having watched LMB’s many successes over the years, Adam is excited for the opportunity to contribute more directly to this work!
Amy Stock Ranger – Grand Rapids

Amy is a recreational cyclist, runner, and triathlete with a background as a college athlete. She has been road and mountain biking in the Traverse City, Charlevoix, Boyne City, Petoskey, and Grand Rapids areas for over 20 years, both socially and in group rides.
She is interested in helping LMB promote a culture of cycling across Michigan, with a focus on safety around community events, commuting, and general awareness of the health, independence, and freedom that cycling offers. Amy is also supportive of efforts to improve car safety culture and make biking more visible and accepted.
Professionally, she is a physician and has served on several boards and committees, including church, youth sports, and medical organizations. She has past fundraising experience from her time as a University of Michigan club soccer captain and continues to support fundraising efforts in various roles. She is connected to cycling communities through TART Trails, UpCycle Bikes, VASA, and Norte.
Sara Ross – Grand Rapids

Sara is an active recreational and touring cyclist who discovered cycling eight years ago and has embraced it as a way to access new adventures and connect with communities across Michigan. She enjoys participating in events throughout the state and supports efforts to make cycling a safe, reliable mode of transportation.
She’s particularly interested in advancing LMB’s strategic goals around improving bicycle safety, building rider skills, and encouraging the joy of cycling. She also supports infrastructure improvements and better access to route information to help more people ride safely and confidently.
Professionally, Sara brings over 15 years of business experience across multiple industries and roles. Her background includes technology-driven business transformation, team and product development, strategic partnerships, and continuous improvement. She has served on nonprofit and company advisory boards, including her work with the Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit. She also has experience with fundraising in both professional and volunteer capacities.
One-Year Terms
B.J. Hull – South Haven

B.J. Hull is the chief development officer for Purdue Fort Wayne and the COO for the Purdue Fort Wayne Foundation. He joined PFW on July 5, 2022. He brings with him 27 years of advancement and development experience in higher education and community non-profits.
Most recently, he served as vice chancellor of university advancement at the University of Michigan–Flint. Prior to his time in Flint, he spent nine years as vice president for advancement at Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan and successfully planned and completed the College’s first comprehensive campaign. His fundraising roles have also included eight years in major and planned gifts at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI, four years as the director of development for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and roles with the March of Dimes and Boy Scouts of America to begin his career.
He earned his MBA, with honors, from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Alma College in Alma, Michigan. He has served as a board member within his community and industry for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, and Rotary International.
He and his wife, Teri, live in Fort Wayne. They spend lots of time at their cottage in Michigan and enjoy cycling and spending time with their dog, Alphi.
Rhonda Lassila – Munising

Rhonda provided the following bio:
I have been part of the local trail group Munising Bay Trail Network (MBTN) since its inception in 2012. MBTN became a 501c3 in April of 2013. I started out as the Secretary and was elected to President in 2014 – current.
Since 2012 our group has built over 40 miles of singletrack trail in the Munising area and now maintain 50+ miles of trail.
Mountain biking is my passion, but I truly love anything that takes me outside – all seasons. I’m excited for the opportunity to connect with more like minded folks who want to see the sport of biking expand across Michigan.
Each of them will help shape LMB’s direction and keep our wheels turning toward safer, more inclusive, and more connected biking across Michigan.
Board Leadership Update
At the July board meeting earlier this month, Bill Brennan stepped into the role of Board Chair, taking the baton from Melissa Werkman, who is continuing to serve on the board.
We’re grateful for Melissa’s leadership as Chair and we’re lucky to have her still at the table. And we’re excited for Bill, longtime board member and dedicated LMB supporter, to step into the role of Chair and look forward to his continued leadership as we keep pedaling forward.
Bill now joins the rest of our Executive Committee: Jeff Wirth continues as Vice Chair, Larry Prange remains Treasurer, and Sara Ross, one of our newly elected board members, is now serving as Secretary.
Thank you to all who voted and continue to support our mission to make Michigan bicycling better for everyone.
