LMB is Hiring an Education Coordinator

The League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) seeks a passionate bicyclist to serve as Education Coordinator. This temporary, part-time position will coordinate LMB’s education programming under an existing grant from the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP). Programming includes bicycle safety and promotion efforts to reduce bicycle and pedestrian crashes in Michigan.

 LMB, located in Lansing along the scenic River Trail, offers remote/hybrid working opportunities for this position.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate training logistics including scheduling, securing venues, and coordinating with contract co-presenters under the existing traffic safety grant from OHSP for bicyclist, pedestrian, law enforcement, motorist, and driver education instructor training.
  • Assist in compiling data needed to measure and track program impact, metrics, and performance which are required for the quarterly grant financial status and progress reports.
  • Regularly contribute content for LMB’s Michigan Bicyclist Magazine, website, and social media to promote program efforts.
  • Serve as primary staff liaison to LMB’s Education Committee.
  • Participate in LMB fundraising efforts to sustain and grow this position.
  • Perform additional organizational and grant-related responsibilities as assigned.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as educator/trainer at a nonprofit, school, or business. and comfort with bicycling-specific safety and education topics.
  • Previous experience with grant writing, reporting, and management.
  • Meticulous time management and tracking.
  • Experience managing projects and project budgets.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience overseeing volunteers.
  • Professional demeanor, sense of humor, and a strong ability to collaborate.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, seeking guidance when appropriate.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to ride a bicycle and be comfortable riding in various settings.
  • Available for occasional in-state travel (valid license, clean record, and proof of insurance required).
  • Social sensitivity skills and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

 

COMPENSATION & DURATION

This is a temporary, part-time position which is expected to last through March 2025 consisting of up to 30 hours per week starting at an hourly pay rate of $24.00 commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for any LMB benefits or overtime compensation

 

LMB has the right to eliminate this position prior to the end of March 2025 with two weeks prior notice. LMB retains the ability to extend this position, on a month-to-month basis after March 2025 with a two-week quit clause notification.

 

SUPERVISION
The Education Coordinator will report directly to the Interim Executive Director and will coordinate regularly with LMB’s grant manager at OHSP.
