MMBA Advocating for Mountain Biking: Pushback Against Thunder Valley Land Use Order

July 18, 2024

Earlier this month, the NAW board voted to close the Thunder Valley trails to bikes, leaving them open for hiking and equestrian use. Neal Glazebrook, Events Director and one of our MMBA Leads, was the only board member to vote against this decision. He spoke out, emphasizing that if trails are to be separated by user groups, there should be equal facilities provided for each group. Neal’s stance was clear: taking away trails from bikers without providing alternative options or equitable solutions is unfair. His stance is a testament to our commitment to ensuring mountain bikers in Michigan are heard and supported.

This pushback against the Thunder Valley land use order underscores our dedication to advocating for mountain biking (mtb) and is part of MMBA’s broader effort to protect and expand mountain biking opportunities in the state. Not only are we hosting mtb skills clinics and pushing for state legislation for natural surface trail funding—we’re actively defending your right to ride.
