After thoughtful consideration, the League of Michigan Bicyclists has made the tough decision to cancel MUP 2025.
Why? As a nonprofit, every event we host supports our work to make bicycling better across Michigan. MUP is a special ride, but in order to keep multi-day events like MUP viable—not just for the ride itself, but for the broader mission of supporting a bike-friendly state—we rely on a minimum number of participants. This year, registration numbers for MUP aren’t where they need to be for us to deliver the experience our riders deserve while staying sustainable, and it’s become clear we won’t reach the numbers needed in time.
Given that, we can’t move forward with the tour this year without putting a strain on our resources, which would limit the impact we’re working to make throughout the state.
To those already registered: we’ve reached out directly with options to transfer to another tour, defer to a future ride, or receive a refund. Rather than waiting, we’re making this decision now, hopefully giving the time needed to plan and make space for other opportunities. We want to make sure you’re supported and still have the chance to ride (hopefully with us!) in 2025 and beyond.
MUP has a long and proud history, and while we won’t ride MUP together in 2025, we remain committed to offering a strong and diverse lineup of events that explore the spirit of Michigan cycling. The best parts of MUP, community, stunning views, and a whole lot of fun, are alive and well at all our other tours. Like MUP, all our multi-day rides support LMB’s bike advocacy and education efforts across the state.
We would absolutely love to see you at our other 2025 events:
🚲 Sunrise – June 12-15
🚲 Shoreline – August 2-9
🚲 Leaf Pile Pedal – October 9-12
To be clear, LMB isn’t going anywhere. And neither are our events! The world’s changing — costs, volunteer power, rider interests — and we’re evolving right along with it. Our passion for connecting people through cycling remains as strong as ever and we’re determined to deliver a portfolio of rides that are sustainable, unforgettable, and celebrate the best of Michigan’s cycling scene.
We’re sincerely sorry for any disruption this causes to your summer plans. Cancelling MUP was a heavy decision made with a lot of heart. Thanks for being part of this ride, whether it’s at Shoreline, Sunrise, Leaf Pile Pedal, or wherever the road or trail takes you next. Michigan’s bike future is still looking bright, and it’s because of riders like you. We can’t wait to keep pedaling forward, together.
