The League of Michigan Bicyclists wants to honor those who are having an impact on Michigan Bicycling. The award categories, listed below, give you the opportunity to nominate a person, club, team, or organization in your community who is making Michigan a better place to be a bicyclist. 

New this year: LMB will make a $250 donation to the bike-related nonprofit organization of award winner’s choice for each category! 

To submit a nomination, here’s what you need to know: 

• Use the nomination form
• Be prepared to choose a category to nominate someone for and write a paragraph or a couple of paragraphs about why they deserve to be nominated. Please be specific and include examples! We don’t care if you’re the best or worst speller, we just want to know more about the awesome nominee. 
• Do you want to nominate someone but none of the categories seem to fit? Email Nicky at [email protected] to tell us more about the special person you’d like to nominate. 
• You can submit multiple nominations – just not on the same form. Click on the link above again and submit a new form for each nomination.
• The deadline for nominations is Monday, April 17th 2023.

The categories: 

• OUTSTANDING INFRASTRUCTURE AWARD – Given to a municipality for the most improved bicycle-friendly infrastructure during the past year.
• CHANGEMAKER OF THE YEAR AWARD – Given to an individual or organization for service during the past year; for advocacy and education efforts on behalf of bicycling at the local, regional or state level. 
• BIKE EVENT OR BIKE EVENT DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD – Given to a race, individual director, tour, or other cycling event that has worked to reduce barriers and include more people in cycling
• TRAILBLAZER OF THE YEAR AWARD — given to an individual or organization for exceptional contributions to the mountain biking community
• SHOP OF THE YEAR AWARD – Given to a bicycle shop for activities during the past year; for demonstrating exemplary dedication to making Michigan bicycling better for all.
• CLUB OF THE YEAR AWARD – Given to a bicycle club, team, or organization for activities during the past year; for expanding access and promoting safety for all bicyclists on Michigan roadways.
• BUSINESS CHAMPION OF THE YEAR AWARD – Given to a business or corporation for activities during the past year; for support of a culture of bicycling among its employees and/or customers.
• BOB GIBBS PASSION FOR PEDALING AWARD – Given to an individual for demonstrating an exceptional passion for bicycling.
• RALPH FINNEREN ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD – Given to an individual that encourages others to get involved in bicycling. 

Winners will be honored at LMB’s annual Advocacy Day in Lansing, on May 2nd, 2023.
