How We Advocate
LMB is Michigan’s statewide advocate for bicycling. We carry the unified voice of Michigan cyclists to the State Capitol.
Our staff work with lawmakers, state agencies and local governments on the policies that decide whether Michigan is safe to ride. The work is year-round. Bills move slowly and relationships take time to build. We are in the room for both.
What we advocate for
- Safer roadways
- Better infrastructure, including protected bike lanes and connected trails
- Acceptance of bicyclists as legitimate road users
- Education for bicyclists, motorists and law enforcement
- Representation of cycling issues at every level of government
- Enforcement of the laws that already protect riders

Advocacy Day
Once a year we bring riders to Lansing to personally advocate for the things that matter to them. Bicycle & Trail Advocacy Day puts cyclists in front of their own legislators to make the case in person. Advocacy Day →
