Our goal for each rider is to provide the best riding week you have ever had. First time riders are welcomed and included as if they have ridden every year. We are wonderfully served by a great team of SAG people, including our own cook who keep us well-fed. Every night we have group activities that create a wonderful sense of being a biking community. A special feature of our ride is the support we raise to assist the people of Haiti. There are three projects we now support with our ride. First is an eye and dental care clinic. Second is a teacher training program for school teachers. Third is a Bible Institute for the training of new pastors. As part of our ride we ask each rider to raise funds from their personal contacts for these projects. While $200 is what we ask for each rider, most are able to raise far more than that. Together we consistently raise over $15,000 for the desperately poor people in Haiti. On the ride we make sure that “no rider is left behind.” We ride in groups fitting the ability and speed of each rider. We have had many for whom WOMBAT was there first group ride experience. For others we offer faster groups who cover additional miles each day. Once we complete our rides we have a great time together going to the beach, swimming, hanging out, eating, making a trip to the local ice cream shop, and helping one another get our bikes ready for the next day’s ride. Once you do a WOMBAT ride you will want to come back year after year.
