The League of Michigan Bicyclists is passionate about advocating for safer and better bicycling across the beautiful state of Michigan. We believe that by working together, we can create safer streets, healthier communities, and a more sustainable future.

We rely on the generous support of individuals and organizations like yours to help us achieve our goals. Whether you’re a corporation, a small business, or an individual cyclist, there are multiple opportunities for you to support our advocacy efforts and make a meaningful impact on the bicycling community in Michigan.

For more information on any of these, please reach out to Development and Membership Director Nicky Bates at [email protected] or by calling our office at (517) 334-9100.

Ways to Support Us:

Events

→ Do you plan a bike event or triathlon? Donate Per Rider at Your Event – Your bike event could support our advocacy efforts by donating $1, $2, or $5 for every rider who participates. Your contribution will directly fund our initiatives to improve bicycling infrastructure, safety, and accessibility across Michigan. In exchange, we highlight your event in a special email (at the $2 and $5 levels, you can include photos and descriptions!).
→ Sponsor Our Events and Tours – Partner with us to sponsor our events and tours. Gain visibility and recognition across the state while supporting our mission to make Michigan a safer and more enjoyable place to ride. Sponsorship recognition varies, but can include your logo on the tour t-shirt, branding on maps distributed to all riders and social media and email recognition.
Advocacy Day & Awards – The League of Michigan Bicyclists’ Annual Advocacy Day is a chance for bicyclists across Michigan to come together and meet with their state senators and representatives. Your organization or club can choose to sponsor the event and further impact bike advocacy in Michigan. You’ll be able to network with similar organizations from across the state, celebrate as we recognize community bike leaders, and have a valuable impact on statewide legislation that makes bicycling better and safer.

Michigan Mountain Biking Alliance

MMBA Clinics – Support the Michigan mountain bike community, engage with new mountain bikers, and encourage ridership.
Sponsor the Frazz Jersey – Showcase your support for bicycling advocacy by sponsoring a custom-designed bike jersey. Your logo will be prominently displayed, demonstrating your commitment to promoting bicycling in Michigan.

Granting Programs

Sponsor Our Granting Programs – Help us make a difference on the ground by sponsoring our Trailblazing Grants and Better Bicycling Grants. These programs provide funding for local projects that enhance bicycling infrastructure, trails, education, and outreach in communities throughout Michigan.
Sponsor a membership – We offer free memberships so that all bicycling Michigaders can be represented in Lansing. Help us offset this cost with a donation of $60.

Advertising

Ride Calendar Sponsorship – Our ride calendar is sent right to the mailboxes of 5,000 Michigan Bicyclists.
Sponsor LMB’s E-News – Reach our engaged audience of 25,000 subscribers by sponsoring our monthly e-newsletter. Showcase your event, brand, or organization to a dedicated community of bicycling enthusiasts who are passionate about making Michigan a better place to ride.

Individual & Planned Giving

Matching Gifts – Many companies have programs to match employee donations, either one time or per paycheck. If yours is one of them, consider choosing LMB as the beneficiary.
Talk about LMB’s advocacy work before group rides or at your events – You can learn more about them here! It’s sometimes possible to get a staff member from LMB to come and speak to your group, but we’re a small staff with limited capacity. Reach out to ask about scheduling!
Bequests Support our mission to make bicycling better and safer in Michigan by including us in your will. Your legacy gift will help fund essential improvements and advocate for better cycling infrastructure for years to come. Make a lasting impact on our community and pave the way for future generations of cyclists.
Donating Appreciated Shares – By giving stocks, bonds, or other investments, you not only support our efforts to enhance bicycling safety in Michigan but also potentially benefit from tax advantages.
Gifts of Life Insurance and Retirement Plans – Consider making a lasting impact by donating gifts of life insurance or retirement plans. You can name LMB as a beneficiary of your policy or account, providing crucial support for our work to improve bicycling safety in Michigan. This type of gift can also offer potential tax benefits for your estate.
IRA Rollovers – Directing your IRA rollover to LMB can be a tax-efficient way to make a significant gift, as it may help reduce your taxable income.
