Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association - WolverBents Recumbent Cyclists annual meetings

Saturday, February 12, 2005

The MPHVA annual meeting will be from 1-4 p.m. in the Francois Xavier Bagnoud Building (corner of Beal and Hayward) on the University of Michigan North Campus in Ann Arbor. That’s been the site of our annual meeting since 2001.

The details have yet to be determined, but for sure there will be election of officers, discussion of the 22nd annual Michigan HPV Rally (date to determined, but it will be at Waterford Hills again, probably in June), and show and tell.

Bob Krzewinski of the WolverBents will give his "buying your first recumbent" presentation at 12:30 p.m. and likely a bicycle shop will have some recumbents on display.

As in past years the MHPVA meeting will be held first, immediately followed by a short WolverBent meeting. After the meeting, weather permitting, there will be a short group ride on nearby non-motorized trails. Maps will be provided).

The easiest way to reach the meeting site is to use the Plymouth Road exit off U.S. 23 (northeast side of Ann Arbor), go west on Plymouth road to Murfin Street, then go south on Murfin to Hayward until you reach Beal.

There will be more information about the meeting in the next newsletter, scheduled for early January. Before then, if you have any ideas for the meeting or are interested in running for office (president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, board member), e-mail MHPVA President Wally Kiehler (wkiehler@comcast.net)

DAVID ELLIOTT OF Waterville, Ohio, rode his titanium frame Tour Easy with patriotic body sock in the Vineyard Classic Bicycle Tour Sept. 12 starting in Paw Paw. If you have to ask how much his bike costs, you can't afford it. ($5,200, plus the cost of the body sock. An incredible amount of overtime at work made buying it possible.)

HERE’S the “official” riders who participated in the Vineyard Classic Bicycle Tour in the Paw Paw area Sept. 12 -- day 2 of the Michigan Recumbent Rally - West. The empty EZ-1 belongs to Mike Eliasohn, who took the photo. Riders had a choice of 22, 39 or 60 mile routes.
