We are pleased to report that we have greatly improved the online Ride Calendar submission process. There is now only a single form that you will need to fill out to have your event listed in both the print and online versions of the Ride Calendar. The link below will take you to the form where you will find detailed instructions incorporated directly into the form. Please take note of the specific formatting requirements and text limits highlighted in the instructions. These are necessary to insure that your event is properly listed in both the print and online version.
To submit events to the calendar, you will first need to log into our site. If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to log in or register a new account when you click the link below. Please note that after creating a new account, you may need to verify your account first by clicking on the link that is automatically emailed to you before you can log in and submit an event.
Once your event has been submitted, you can update it at any time by navigating to your specific ride and then clicking the orange EDIT button on the top left above your event title. If you are logged in, you can also easily navigate to your events, by clicking the "Edit Your Profile / Events" link on the very bottom right of any webpage on our site and then selecting the "My Events" tab.
Lastly, please don't forget about our affordable print and online advertising rates or our $1 Per Rider Program to help support LMB's education and advocacy efforts.
Note: The deadline for inclusion in the printed version is October 31st. There is no deadline for submitting to the online version.
The 2012 Michigan Ride Calendar is now available. In addition to the table listing on our website, we have uploaded a downloadable PDF, as well as the PDF previewer below.
The Ride Calendar was mailed to all current members a couple weeks ago and we are currently working with volunteers to build care packages for all the Michigan bike shops and clubs around the state. If you are not a current member, we encourage you to join today! You can also request a Ride Calendar to be mailed to you by filling out our Michigan bicycle tourism packet request form.
The 2012 Ride Calendar lists over 300 events (the most we have ever had), including tours, mountain biking, road races, trail events, Ride of Silence, advocacy events, Bike to Work/Smart Commute events and more. We are also extremely pleased to report, that close to 50 events have pledged to participate in our $1 Per Rider program - also the most we have ever had. The funds generated through this program provide essential funding to help LMB sustain our bicycle education, advocacy and promotion efforts. Participating in $1 Per Rider events in 2012 is a super easy way to support LMB's work to make Michigan a more bicycle friendly state. Download PDF Version: {jd_file file==96}
Please consider supporting LMB by participating in our $1 Per Rider program. In 2009 more than 30 rides pledged to donate $1 to the LMB for every rider that participated in their events. We are extremely grateful to these donating rides for their generous contributions to our efforts to promote bicycling and the safety of bicyclists on the roadways in Michigan. These dollars add up quickly, providing LMB with much needed funds that help with our education and advocacy efforts.
Recognizing the importance of these donating rides LMB does all that we can to specifically promote $1 Per Rider events. $1 Per Rider events are specially highlighted in the print version of the Ride Calendar, on our website, magazine, email updates, etc. $1 Per Rider events will be listed first in the Ride Calendar on dates with multiple events.
Additionally, as a 501c3 nonprofit, you will also be able to write off your charitable donation to the fullest extent of the law.
With 45,000 copies of the annual Ride Calendar distributed extensively throughout Michigan and beyond, you won't find a better place to advertise your bicycle-related event or business.
LMB's annual Ride Calendar is a full color publication that bicyclists keep and refer to again and again throughout the cycling season. You can count on your ad being viewed repeatedly!
We offer a wide array of advertising options from full-page spots down to column inch spots.

Now is your chance for fame and glory as a photographer! More than 50,000 people throughout Michigan and the U.S. may see your Michigan bicycling photos! We are always seeking high quality photos of bicycling in Michigan to help in our efforts of promoting bicycling and the rights of bicyclists on the roadways.
We are not able to pay for photographs but will be delighted to give you photo credit and some complimentary copies of the publication in which your photos appear. When sharing your photos with us you agree that we may use them without any restriction whatsoever to promote biking in Michigan.
Specifications:
We welcome photos year round but the deadline for the annual Ride Calendar is October 31st.
All photos MUST be in digital format, preferably JPEG saved at the highest quality. If you atill use film, please scan your images, as we cannot convert negatives.
Send photos by email or CD-ROM (please clearly write the photographer's name, email and the name of the event directly on the CD-ROM and in the email) You many also now submit photos via our Flickr Ride Calendar Submission Group.
Be kind to the LMB staff and volunteers...please pre edit your images to pick out your best photos (10 or less is ideal, but if you have more than 10 amazingly great cycling photos feel free to send more.)
We love big files! Digital photos should be AT LEAST 300dpi resolution and 3 x 4 inches in dimension (or the equivalent, i.e. 72dpi at approximately 12 x 16 inches or 150 dpi at 6 x 8 inches) If this is complete gibberish to you, have no worries! We can accept lower resolution images but may not be able to use them for all print purposes. If you don't know how to check your resolution just send them anyways.
Include your last name in the photo file name (if possible), i.e. Jamison001.jpeg or Jamisontandemriders.jpeg
Ride and people photos must have a bicycling in Michigan theme so no shots of a Florida ride! We can accept "general bike themed" photos not from Michigan that are not place specific (i.e. close up artful photos of bikes).
Any cyclists shown actually riding must be wearing a fastened helmet.
Don't forget to let your creativity shine - we are looking for "artsy" and "unusual" bicycle themed photos in addition to "traditional" ride images. Thanks in advance and we look forward to immortalizing your wonderful photos showing off the diversity, challenges, humor and excitement of bicycling in Michigan!
